Soaping goals for this New Year!

2013 was a AMaineZing year. I made my 1st batch of soap and was smitten. I learned many things and tried lots of different recipes. I developed my favorite recipes. I made lots of mistakes and wasted product. I made videos and watched many videos. I got my soap into my 1st store. This 1st year of soap making was about discovering and creating.

This New Year will be about learning, producing, selling and sharing. I've got some great new goals. I am excited about 2014.

AMaineZingsoaps is being sold in Freeport

Yes a AMaineZing shop owner offer to sell my soap in her store. How exciting this has been. Bringing the soap to her felt like I was dropping my babies off.

Yes I finally opened my Etsy store. I am happy such a wonderful accomplishment. Within the same week I made my 1st sale.

There is much yet to do but I was glad just to have opened it. God is amainezing.

Kim's Facebook chatting page saved my soap!

Thursday When I was making soap I noticed that my oils and lye water mixture was not blending together. I thought I should just throw it all away and start over but I was making a 3lb batch of soap and that is a lot to just throw away.

I thought about Kim's essentialsoap FaceBook chatting page and how she talks about it on her YouTube videos. She has mentioned how the soapers help one another. Well I was in need of some help from soapers. I quickly went on and asked for help with my mess. It seemed like the first response came in 2 minutes. I was instucted by many to keep blending it with the stick blender. That is exactly what I did.

Within a short time my soap was neatly placed in the red silicon mold to rest. I have enjoyed being a part of this soaping form. I like seeing the others soapers soap and hearing about their adventures from trying new ingredients to selling.

I will be sharing with all soapers Newbies to seasoned join a forum. You never know when you will need some soaping help or be able to give help.

I used this product for both hot processed and cold soap making. I was very pleased at how easy the soap came out of the mold. I will be buying more. I will also get a wooden frame made for more support.

My 1st body Puddin!!!

They say that necessitate is the mother of all inventions. That is how I made my body Puddin. Last week I had reached the last piece of lotion using the handle of a old toothbrush to scrap the bottom insides of a favorite lotion bottle. I had purchased the bottles months ago during a sale. The store no longer carried the product. I loved the natural butters and oils used to make this product. Finding a comparable one would be pricey. So I decided to make my own.

I had all the ingredients available so after searching the Internet to view several recipes I tweaked with what I had and created a light, fragarant body Puddin. It feels great & smells wonderful. My husband has been using it and is impressed. I made 2 8 ounce containers using only 1 1/2c of olive oil, coconut oil and Shea butter. The process was quite simple, melt the ingredients, let cool & whip to a firm
Consistency and put into a container. With my handmade soap and my new body puddin my bath time has become an indulgent pleasure.

Maine is beautiful! The snow is gorgeous! I have walked more in the snow for enjoyment and exercise then I have in years.
